Stony Brook is part of the Three Village Area on Long Island's North Shore. It is located 60 miles east of Manhattan and 5 minutes from the beaches of the Long Island Sound. Stony Brook is close in proximity to numerous hiking trails, quaint historic villages, 300 miles of beaches, the famous Long Islands vineyards, as well as boating and fishing along the coastline.

As the highest building in Suffolk County, Stony Brook Hospital affords some of the most impossible views of the area. The hospital is nestled in 1,100 of wooded campus for the surrounding university.
